Arezzo, a historic Tuscan city for real language immersion

Arezzo is one of Italy’s most important Etruscan cities and offers an authentic, relaxed environment, far from the crowds of larger Tuscan destinations.

Rich in history yet deeply rooted in everyday Italian life, the city invites students to slow down and truly connect with the language and culture.

From the stunning Piazza Grande—made famous worldwide by Roberto Benigni’s Life is Beautiful—to the renowned Fiera Antiquaria, held monthly, and the spectacular Giostra del Saracino.

Course structure

The core programme is an Intensive Italian Course, designed for fast and effective progress through immersion.

  • 4 lessons per day, Monday to Friday (20 lessons per week)
  • Small groups: 6–12 students (average 8–10)
  •  Language levels from beginner to advanced
  • Morning or afternoon classes, depending on level and availability
  • Oral and written placement test at the start of the course

The teaching approach is communicative and immersive, encouraging students to speak Italian from the very first day. Lessons are usually divided into two parts: the first focuses on grammar and vocabulary, while the second emphasises conversation, listening comprehension and oral expression. Teachers use a variety of original materials—texts, videos, games, films and current articles—to keep lessons dynamic and engaging. The main goal is to help students communicate confidently and naturally, without fear of making mistakes.

I really liked the school and the city of Arezzo. The teacher, Monica, was very patient with the students and had a high level of teaching ability. Arezzo is a good place to study. It is a small city, but large enough to be comfortable. It is also a quiet and safe city. I hope to return to Cultura Italiana Arezzo to continue studying the Italian language.
